Live Musicians Selection Rubric
Musicality (30 points)
- Excellent (10 points): Musicians show exceptional technical ability, a deep understanding of their instrument(s), and an ability to create a cohesive and musically impressive performance.
- Good (7 points): Musicians show a solid understanding of their instrument(s) and are able to create a good performance.
- Fair (4 points): Musicians show a basic understanding of their instrument(s) but the performance lacks depth or complexity.
- Poor (1 point): Musicians show a lack of technical ability and the performance is not musically impressive.
Stage Presence and Audience Engagement (20 points)
- Excellent (10 points): Musicians are able to create a connection with the audience and put on an entertaining show.
- Good (7 points): Musicians are able to engage with the audience to some degree and put on a decent show.
- Fair (4 points): Musicians do not engage with the audience and the performance lacks energy.
- Poor (1 point): Musicians do not engage with the audience and the performance is boring or uncomfortable.
Collaborative Skills and Improvisation (20 points)
- Excellent (10 points): Musicians are able to work well with other musicians and demonstrate an ability to improvise effectively during live performances.
- Good (7 points): Musicians are able to work with other musicians and improvise to some degree.
- Fair (4 points): Musicians struggle to work with other musicians and do not demonstrate an ability to improvise.
- Poor (1 point): Musicians are unable to work with other musicians and do not demonstrate an ability to improvise.
Stage Setup and Sound Quality (15 points)
- Excellent (10 points): Musicians have a well-planned and professional stage setup, and the sound quality is exceptional.
- Good (7 points): Musicians have a decent stage setup and the sound quality is good.
- Fair (4 points): Musicians have a basic stage setup and the sound quality is average.
- Poor (1 point): Musicians have a poorly planned or unprofessional stage setup, and the sound quality is poor.
Event Theme/Mood Adaptation and Experience (15 points)
- Excellent (10 points): Musicians are able to adjust their performance to fit the event’s theme or mood, and have extensive experience in similar events.
- Good (7 points): Musicians are able to adjust their performance to some degree to fit the event’s theme or mood, and have some experience in similar events.
- Fair (4 points): Musicians struggle to adjust their performance to fit the event’s theme or mood, and have limited experience in similar events.
- Poor (1 point): Musicians do not adjust their performance to fit the event’s theme or mood, and have no experience in similar events.
